The Muppets have never really gone away. Where they made their biggest mistake was sidelining the old crew (Fozzie, Scooter, Rolff, Dr Teeth etc.) in favour of the unfunny Rizzo Rat and Pepe the Prawn in the more recent TV spin-offs ("Muppets Tonight") and films. The recent Muppets Wizard of Oz film was quite painful to watch - too hip-hop and 'gangsta' for my tastes. The original show from the late 70s/early 80s was a classic, especially some of the special guests - that is what they need to re-create - the old magic. The Swedish Chef was my favourite, plus Dr Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker.

All the films and the TV series are available on DVD, I don't think the muppets ever really went away.
