Request an unlisted number through your service provider or get a cell phone and don't leave the number on any web sites, checks that you write or anywhere else for that matter and you will remain unlisted.

If your in the UK just get in touch with b.t and tell them your number will not be in the phone book or given out by directories of enquiries you can also have your number withheld when you make a call.

Call your phone company and ask that your number be unlisted and private. Unlisted will make sure it is not in the phone book. Private makes it so that if someone calls information they will not be able to give out the number.

There was a category called "No Enquiry Record", but this was usually for auxilary lines on switchboards (you wouldn't have an entry for each individual line) or temporary lines (eg. in a Portakabin on a building site).

Call your phone provider and tell them to remove your name from any directory listings. Ask about any charges.

Call your phone company, I think you have to pay 30 cents a month to keep your number unlisted.
