mean
20 + 30 + 40 + 50 = 140
divide 140 by 4 since th are 4 numbers that were added
140 / 4 = 35
The mean is 35

Median
1 3 5 6 9 10
The median is 6 . 6 is the center between 1 and 10.

Mode
is the frequency a number occurs more than once..
2 44 5 8 9 12 12 12 19 25
The mode is 12. since 12 ocured three times among the set of numbers.

The mean is the "average" that we are used to. Add up all the entries and divide by the total number of entries.
The mode is the "most". What value is repeated the most or occurs most frequently.
The median is the "middle" (think of a divided road). If you lined up all the entries from smallest to largest the median would be the number in the middle (for an even number of entries it is the "mean" of the 2 middle numbers).
An example: consider 2, 2, 2, 4, 6, 8
Mean=(2+2+2+4+6+8)/6=4
Mode=2 (occurs 3 times)
Median= (2+4)/2=3

the difference is in how they are calculated. They are all valuable (in certain circumstances) measures of the "center" of a distribution. Mean is the arithmetic average of the values (add them all up and divide by the number of values). The median is the "middle number" (the one in the center after you put the numbers in numerical order - if you have an even number, take the average of the middle two). The mode is the most frequent number in your set - if no number is repeated, you have NO mode (you can also have more than one mode if there's a tie).

For a collection of samples, the mean is the plain average.
The median is the number which has an equal number of samples above and below it.
The mode is the number that happens the most frequently.

the mean-is the average...you add up all the numbers in a list and divide them by the amount of numbers that you have added
the median-is the middle number once you organize the list of numbers from least to greatest...and if you have an even amount of numbers you take the two middle numbers, add them and then divide by two
the mode-is the number that appears the most often in the list,repeats itself.
