Go to a big library that has old newspapers on microfilm. You probably aren't going to find them online from 1979, except for a small handful of newspapers if any.

You will find it in the Library of the town you are looking for. If you don't live in the same town, call their Library and tell them what info you are needing and why, they will most likely do this for you. My mom does a lot of genealogy on our families and Libraries are very considerate and helpful.

Go to the newspaper archives in the last place they lived. If they don't have anything, try the library in the town they died in. Good luck.
