I have a 2000 Harley Fat Boy but want to make the front end look like a chopper. I love everything about the bike as is, but want to give it that chopper look. What the easiest way to get the front end to look stretched. New Frame with higher degree rake?? Or do i need to buy a new Forks or just the triple tree w/set rake? I dont want to affect the trail too much. thanks

No cutting, no welding chopper kit. check this link out http://www.chopper-kit-usa.com/index.htm maybe youll like to do it this way. I have a stock 06 Street Bob, and an older sportster (I got it for my wife but she only rode it twice so I kinda took it back) that I put a 2" stretched tank, pullback handle bars, different lights instead of the ugly stock ones, braided brake lines, Le Pera Silhouette seat, and a lot of other goodies, and im thinking of putting one of those kits on it if I keep it.

Nice answer, Basher. I don't get to give it as often as I like.
Complete kit will set you back about $3500 I think.
Claims to keep correct trail with a combination of neck rake and tree rake. One changes trail, the other brings it back = added rake without trail change.

Another nice thing is you can change it back easy. Just keep the stock parts.

You'll probably need a new triple tree set with new longer forks. Make sure it can handle the weight without bending the forks. It should have a weight rating. You'll probably want a little thicker forks anyways, it will look cooler on the frame.

I did something like this to the old ladys bike.I lowered the rear about 3/4" and put 4" over fork tubes. It didn't cost much and got her the look she was after. Also on a fat boy you'll want to ditch that fat front wheel for a 21" . You can see the old lady's FXR on www.hotrodhotlinebikes.com Go to readers rides, they call hers"Foxy Lady". P.S. It barely changed the handling.

you can get new bearing cups that will rake it out a little and this is relitively cheap. That plus a tank lift kit would make the bike look somewhat choopper'd without alot of cash.

If you rake the front end with either raked triple trees, or bearing cups, you WILL affect the handling, as you will reduce the amount of TRAIL (the characteristic that make a bike go in a straight line)
