You have, now, haven't you? Conratulations, Sherlock, that was a tough find. The name is retarded, but keep in mind that it's a band formed by a former Nirvana drummer, Dave Grohl, who would never be anybody had Cobain not capped himself. So it's not like he is a very bright or inspired guy, therefore don't expect much from either the name or the songs. They had some neat popppy songs, though, so all in all it's not too bad.
P.S.
On second thought, when you think of idiots who call themselves Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters sound really smart & profound.

A Foo Fighter, I believe, is a UFO. SO you might want to fight one, depending on whether or not they come in peace.

foo is the sound lasers make, so in the 30's & 40's people called UFO's foofighters.
After Curt Cobain killed himself, the rest of Nirvana started this group.
Say "foo, foo, foo, .........foo, foo, foo"- sounds like a laser huh?

"Foo Fighters World War II slang for UFO's. Also the name of the band, duh! Consisting of Dave Grohl (Vocals, Guitar), Nate Mendel (Bass), and Taylor Hawkins (Drums). However this was not the original lineup. The first lineup was Dave Grohl (Vocals, Guitars), Pat Smear (Guitar), William Goldsmith (Drums), and Nate Mendel (Bass). Pat was then replaced by Franz Stahl when he left the band. Then in 1999 Franz was replaced by Chris Shiflett. This term also happens to the the title of the First album on which Dave played all the drums except for one guitar part by Greg Dulli."
