This person is female; manipuates situations for her own benefit; whatever that is is unclear, lives in public housing, has no job and makes excuses for not getting one, lives off of a family member; tells lies and is very adept a manipulating a few people to feel sorry for her. I know this person doesn't like me at all because I believe she knows that I see right through this, although she's very nice to my face. This is a family situation so it's not like I can just have nothing to do with her; I have to deal with her on occasion.

I'd limit your association as much as possible...even if she is family. Sociopaths are dangerous.

Sounds like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Set rules that are fair and reasonable.

State the consequences for breaking the rules and make sure you follow through with them.

Don't get sucked into her manipulation.

There isn't any cure for Axis II disorders (personality disorders) but therapy can be of some help and so can meds.

You need to do some major research as this can't be summed up here.

Good luck to you.

Wenda, apparently several "crazies" are out today in the psychology section of Yahoo Answers. I'm sorry that you are asking an honest question and being subjected to this childishness. My recommendation to you is that you should keep your contact with this person brief, keep the conversations top-line (cordial, but not too deep, very superficial), and do not let the fact that she may not like you intimidate you. She doesn't even like herself, so she probably doesn't like anyone....it's nothing personal. I definitely would not trust her with anything; kids, money, etc., and would not loan her anything. Be polite, but on guard. Good luck!

there is no real way of rationalizing with someone like that....seriously. I know a girl that is exactly doing the same thing. She is destroying everything in her life. Exploit her. Tell others what you think. Tell the ones that are helping her to stop and take a good hard look at what she is doing to get her way. Straight up Lazy! Tell the chicy that your onto the game and won't be playing.
