It takes 2 to tango so why is it traditionally the woman who is most likely to come under critisism for sexual conduct, while a man doesnt just escape critism but is often praised for his "conquests"?
Its only going by stereotypes of cause. Do you think its a method to control women's behaviour? Do some men think that promiscuity makes them "real men". Or do you think that some parts of society are more liberal: for instance if a popular girl sleeps around she's "adventurous" but if an unpopular girl sleeps around she's a "slapper"?

A man has to 'work' to mate with a female, so seen more as an achievement by a male society, whereas the woman just has to accept an invitation (in most cases) so seen as unnecessary in the fem society. For a man to be seen mating a lot that is perceived as success and sexy but for a woman to do that is seen as unnecessary; ie opening herself to disease, so disloyal to her family etc. That makes sense when not attached.

Also jealousy comes in to it. An attractive girl with a lot of men and the others think, "Why not me?" so they insult to feel better.

In my circle of friends...that doesn't happen. For one thing, I'm REALLY nonjudgemental about other people's sexual habits. If it's informed consent (meaning there's no lying going on etc) then I don't make moral judgements. (If a good friend is regularly dating a jerk, I'll tell them so, but that's a far cry from me calling them a s---). Also, I call men out on being man-h's all the time. I think I use that term when I see it as sleazy, and just "s---" for someone who sleeps around a lot, or is easy to sleep with. And I have called myself a s---, so I don't see it as a bad thing when I say it. Man-hoe...that one might carry some judgement to it.

He up in the sky has invented and designed us, so we are told. Reproduction is essential to the continuance of human life and men are programmed to go out and populate the world and it is possible for a man to have thousands of children whilst it is but possible for a woman to have a couple of dozen so the instincts for sex are accordingly different.

It's that good old double standard. Been wondering this myself for years.
