Well, gaming is gonna take alot of ram and a hi end video card so that eliminates a laptop right from the gitgo! I would suggest an HP because of their ease in resetting to facatory but make sure it has loads of ram and a video card with as much onboard vidram and the latest video technology!

If ur not a geek, dont build one. I dont know what you mean by Resonably priced becuase new computer go from $200-5,000. Fo vista Home Premium, you will need 1GB or RAM, a Video Card with at least 256mb of Video Ram. A dual Core Processor and a large Harddrive. If you got to the HP or Dell Website, you can customize one to suite your needs. a setup like that will prably cost around $1,000. I would Reccomend HP. Both HP and Dell, come with a Free Vista Upgrade depending on the computer. If you still are having trouble just got to CompUSA, Best Buy or Curcuit City and ask them the same question and if their not an idiot they will lead you to a nice PC. The Only thing about buying a computer at stores like that is they come preloaded with al kinds of annoying free trials so just bewaree of that. Good Luck and I hope this Helps
PS: What Koala said was wrong: the Minimum for ram is 512MB not KB. Same goes for the Video memory, its 256MB not 512 KB
