Spent about $200.00, 3 years ago just for the ... then the shoes, the accessories, the make up, the bag...
it cost a fortune at that time...
And trust me, it was not worth it.
Dont spend excessive money on the prom dress, there is so much more after school life.... waiting to be discovered.
Kepp it simple and most of all juist go and have a great time girl :)

I went last year, and my mom just sort of came home with a dress from TJMaxx that was I think $30. But I was also going to a different school's prom, I was a junior, and my date was a really close friend of mine that was also a girl, so its not like I was trying to impress anyone. I was just going for a good time.
This year (since it will be my prom) I will probably spend closer to $100, hopefully no more than $150, but if I find a nice looking cheap dress, I"ll totally go for it. I don't think $150 is totally unreasonable though. It should be a special night, but don't go overboard. There are a lottt of other costs as well as a dress.

The dress was approximately $100 and the shoes were $25 (in 1998). I wore the outfit at least another 5 times over the years. You don't have to spend a lot of money to look fabulous...

I bought shoes, matching jewelry and a dress for $110 at a consignment store. Lovely dress, you would never guess how much I paid. I dont beleive in spending a crazy amount of money for a dress you will only wear once. So unless you plan on attending more formals in this....dont spend over 200

When I was a Senior in high school which was in 2003 I spent around $200 that was with fixing it for my body. I bought my dress on the internet then went to a dress shop in town to have it fixed. When I went to my boyfriend's prom I spent around $250 this was in 2004. I spent a little more on this one because it was a ballroom skirt.

I spent $250 in 2003. I think the limit depends entirely on what everyone else is spending as well as your own income. My dress was a little above average for my community because my mother was kind of living through me, but when I talked with other people in college it seemed that it was on the cheap side in general.

I spent $80 on the materials, and $100 on the labor in 1997, but I've worn that dress at least 2 more times since then!

Prom Dress #1 = $200
Prom Dress #2 = $150
Prom Dress #3 = $250
Prom Dress #4 = $285

I never added that up before - that's a lot of money on dresses!!!

Nothing, I skipped that night - I used the hundreds of dollars it would have cost me on vacation a few weeks later - much more worth it. What a waste of money grad is. But anyways I'd advise you to spend as little as possible - try to keep it under a hundred and buy a dress you'll be able to wear again.
