I'm in my 2nd year of college, and need a new roommate, now there is this kid I don't very well in my spanish class, I've hardly ever talked to him or anything, but he seems like a loner, like me.

Now I was wondering would it be wrong to ask him to be roommates next year, I'm looking for a 2 person room, we each get our own room. As long as I get my own room and space I'm good. Should I ask him?

If I ask him and he says no, I'm no worse off than I was before. So Should I ask?

I would get my own room, I would have a little fridge, and probraly a microwave too. And the room I want has its own bathroom, so It wouldn't be like i had to interact with him really.

You could start by getting to know them a little better and ask them what their present living condition status is. Sometimes just living with someone you DO know is a pain in the ***. Not only do you share a place of residence you also will share each others bad habits and will quickly develop new pet peeves. Like, what if they're sloppy and you're a clean freak...you may be a morning person and they're a night owl...etc.. I'd ask them if I knew a little more about them first.

It seems that you have nothing to lose by asking him, so I don't know why you wouldn't want to. The only thing I can think of is that it'd be a bit awkward because you two don't know each other very well. But yeah I think you should ask him. Just make sure that he has a job (so he pays his share of the rent), and you guys make up rules beforehand (appropriate time to study, sleep, girlfriends, cleaning...etc).

You never talk to him and yet you want to ask him to be room mates? I think first I would make it a point to speak to him a little and see if you all at least can get along before asking to be room mates. Just a thought.
