In the fast moving opening sequence of the movie,quickfire samples show the onset of armageddon.
What is the relevance of the muslims praying in the mosque at the beginning of the sequence?
The director obviously had agenda.
Question for genuine thinkers.

It was a post-9/11 horror movie and it tapped into the imagery and subconscious fears that people have about that day. There was a direct reference to 9/11 when you see the helicopter shot of the highway and the huge black plumes of smoke rising high into the sky that remind you of the Twin Towers on fire.

The dead have risen-supossedly an act of 'evil' so people are praying to their individual Gods,no hidden messages there-just common sense as to what religious people would do given 'Armageddon'. oh and the people in 28 Days Later aren't zombies- it's a common misconception about that film.They are humans infected with the disease Rage which will eventually kill them. The creator of Dawn Of the Dead figured that if you're dead then you can't feel pain etc so why would you're muscles stiffen etc...they are able to run down to bloodied stumps but because they're pain free they keep running.Watch the extras on the dvd and he explains it.

firstly, it is easy to see that every religion has at its core a message of, 'be good and you will be rewarded'. this is central to nearly every religion; in Christianity, there is heaven and hell, in Islam, you have paradise. even in ancient religions like the Egyptian religions, if people were good in this life they would be given a place in paradise, working the fields. if they were bad, then their soul would be eaten and they would be destroyed. in reference to the dawn of the dead (which was really cool, by the way) i think the director used the image of Muslims as this was easy image to recognise and realise that they are praying for deliverance, as this is mainly why people pray; that their families will be safe, that everything will go right for them, etc. Muslims are easy to recognise, as the method of their prayer is quite unique in the way they bow their forehead to the ground. an image of, say, Christianity might be quite hard to recognise as all they do is hold their hands in front of their whilst being on their knees.

I just watched that yesterday. I love that movie.
I noticed that too. I think it was just showing a peaceful bit of humanity before the carnage and destruction.

I think they r tryin to show how ppl r scared and praying for that hell on earth to end, i think :D. i agree wid da comment about how they stole the fast running zombies from 28 days later. oo and btw i wached it yesterday as well lol
