In my Health, Safety, and Nutrition class we are working on an assignment having to do with children's books. We have been asked to choose 5 books on health or mental health and tell how to incorporate them into a lesson or group time to promote positive health/mental health skills. Does anyone have any really good book or lesson ideas to share? Thank you!

Leo the Late Bloomer. This book helps students understand that everyone develops differently and at different rates.

Hugo and the Bullyfrogs is one my students enjoy. I use The Spider and the Fly to teach students about stranger safety. I know bullying and stranger safety might not be directly related to mental health, but they're certainly relevant to children and promote positive mental health. Noodle is about liking yourself for who you are. I listed the Amazon link below.

There is a really cute children's book called "The Way I Feel" by Janan Cain(you can Google it) It talks about alot of different emotions little ones (and everyone) feels at one time or another. This book would be great, you could write about how people feel different emotions, that they are all okay and healthy, and it's okay to talk about and express them...

you can use playboy magazine (or any other man/woman porn book) as an example of regular health, and use a "Gay or Lesbian" pornographic book to teach Mental Health.
