i am in college and i have to write an essay about a sifnifacent expireance in my life. why?! i thought i was done with this BS in highschool? i have no intrest in writing about my self so i will most likely do what i did in high school, write some fake thing and claim it as my own.

its a way to help people realize what they have done in life and where they plan on going. you dont always think about yourself enough to write a biography, so its a great way to help you discover how exactly you see yourself as the years go by. once youve discovered the signifigance it can help to better you as a person. not to mention the fact that there is no easier subject matter to write about than your own life.

Talk to your Professor. Suggest that you would learn more by writing about a significant event in a well-known person's life and what that event did to shape that person's life (or what it didn't do!). Involve the teacher, ask for suggestions on a candidate, and bring up a few of your own suggestions. If pressed, exp plain that you have done this exercise on yourself so many times and you want to move on. It will involve research, but at least you won't be bored silly. Good luck

Reflecting on your values and what you have done can be a good tool. If you are able to look back and see where you need improvement you can fix problems. More importantly, if things are going well or being done well, then those are the things you should emphasize the most.
If you're becoming a teacher you will do this a lot. Eventually you learn to do that with each lesson you teach.

writing about what you know best is the best topic and you should know a lot about yourself...personal narratives are the writing format to get the most content and is easy for students...I got tired of them too because if I really wanted the teacher or other students to know about me then I would tell them

teachers know that people love to talk aabout themselves so it's thier thinking that they will get better papers written if they make that the topic .

for teachers can learn about you more.
if you have no interst in writing about yourself, then you must not like yourself...and thats bad. so....then just dont do it.
