I'm 38 weeks pregnant and have been taking Lovenox shots since I was 10 weeks along. Lately when I stick the shot in my skin, a drop or so of blood goes up the needle into the medicine I am putting into me.I don't know if this is something to be concerned about.I just keep putting the medicine in with my blood in it.Does anyone know if I should do that or not?

Sometimes when you are injected, a little blood will go back up, like backwash. I do not think it is anything to worry about, but you should ask your doctor if you are really concerned.

I can't imagine it would be a problem as there wouldn't be time for the blood to clot, but I would definitely check w/ your doc.

I took heparin through both my pregnacies and was told to stop at around 37 weeks. I wonder if you shouldn't ask your doc about that too. 38 weeks seem pretty close to term to be taking lovenox.

I would call your Dr. incase there is something wrong w/ your blood being to thin or if your not injecting it right. I dont think the blood should go into the siringe if you are not pulling it out w/ the plunger. I mean it has to be being sucked up right? As for injecting your own blood I beleive it is fine... after all they do that with herion. (prolly not the best sorce of info and Im sure if they do it for it then Im sure there are other meds that they do it with.)
