My co-worker said she was offended when the supervisor told her, her make-up looked pretty.

Why? Because my friend said, "She should have said, she looked pretty not her make-up!" I'm stumped...

Your friend is silly..... she should have been pleased that the make up she put on didnt resemble a clown. Not everyone can do make-up, so for someone to say your make up is pretty is a compliment. Tell her to get over it.

I think that it depends on how you look at it. If you look at that comment in a more negitive way, it seems like someone is saying that you aren't pretty, but your makeup makes you better. If you look at it from a positve point of veiw, you take it as the person telling you that you are good at putting on makeup and it compliments your features.

This is really silly. Maybe that particular day she did something different with her eye makeup, or changed her lipstick color and it really stood out well on her that her supervisor gave her a genuine compliment. It shouldn't have been taken out of context to mean something negative.

That's really lame. I would pleased. I spend a lot of time on my makeup and it would really be nice to get a compliment once in a while. And if she wanted people to say she was pretty, she wouldn't need makeup.

well i always like to think that if i did my makeup correctly, that no one can tell if i have any on (or it enhances my features instead of making it look like i painted something on)...instead of saying "your makeup looks so pretty" they will say "your skin looks so nice"...its just nicer to hear. but i don't think i would be offended by the makeup statement. it still would mean that someone likes how you do your makeup!

i would have mixed feelings. the purpose of makeup is to look like you hav naturally flawless skin. you want people to notice u not your makeup. think you look pretty not that u put your makeup on well. it should look natural not overdone. yeah so i'd hav mixed feelings about it.

I don't get offended when people say that but when you wear make up you shouldnt wear alot of it, just a little hint to refresh your face

I think it is wonderful unless the person said it with sarcasm

I'd be pleased. I think your friend was being over sensitive!
