Yeah, what's the big issue. Would you prefer he got drunk every weekend with his buddies and knocked up a few girls? Is that what normal 17-year-olds do?
Heh. At least be grateful the kid's smarter than you.

Nietzsche had some very good ideas. One of his ideas that I personally love is GOD IS DEAD!
The reason a 17 year old would read what Nietzsche wrote is possibly expand their mind! To break out of the box that most people live in!
It is a good thing!
Think of it like the Matrix. SWALLOW THE RED PILL!!!

I wouldn't be too worried about a young man who has an urge to learn. In fact, it's incredible that he could understand what Nietzsche was trying to say. Or he smokes drugs, but don't reprimand him for that... he's only 17, right?

Your son is obviously wise beyond his years. He reads Nietzche for pleasure because he has the kind of mind that can grasp more ADULT thought processes. Encourage him...he may be the next Nobel prize winner for his generation.

obviously he's probably not slated to be content with just nascar, hunting small mammals, and humping his dog in the back of his pickup, eh? you're fortunate to be the proud father of a non troglodyte. one day he may actually make a difference, in the right direction, on behalf of this benighted species, and the suffering planet ;-)
