As much as it would help their future if they did tank the season, I think they are running out of healthy players. Without Wally and Pierce they are a lesser team without a proven scorer. So players like West and Ray and Al J and Perk have to pick up the slack. Tony Allen was playing well when he got hurt.

The fact is, the Celtic's have been screwed since the Rick Pitino days, where he traded away and got rid of some of the best talent in the NBA today. Hopefully, Danny Ainge knows what he's doing in these re-building years, Pierce, Green, and Jefferson (I think Jefferson) are on the "no-trade" list, so he has high hopes for those 2 young guys, and faith in Pierce to stay healthy for a few more years.

Our center position is where we're weakest on the floor, Perkins is just not effective, he's not an offensive presence, despite grabbing a few boards, he can't compete with the other centers out there today. Al Jefferson, though playing incredibly well lately with his stream of double doubles, he is not a center. He's naturally too small for the position, despite being like 6'11", he's skinny, which is great for the PF position, but not the center. He's not strong enough to put a body on the center when on defense.

Then, we're pretty weak at the PG, but Telfair is showing some nice light of maturity, being able to hit a decent mid range, and not being too scared to drive. He can handle the ball very well, and is constantly improving there, as well as improving his passing. He lacks confidence though, as can be seen in his stressing the fundamental style of passing and dribbling. In my opinion, Doc Rivers is the source for the problems with the Celtic's. He makes poor substitutions and the fact that they run the offense through Al Jefferson I really disagree with.
I also don't think Wally should be getting as much time as he does. He doesn't produce very well in the first half, though strong in the second. I'd have him coming off the bench behind Pierce in the second half, and never running them together, unless late in the game in a desperate attempt at something.

If the Celtic's are tanking this season, that's fine, this upcoming draft is supposed to be one of the strongest in recent years. right now we're projected at like the 3rd pick, drafting Brendan Wright out of UNC (NBADraft.net), which would be great. Oden isn't the only potential superstar coming next year.
Hopefully Danny Ainge doesn't screw us out of a virtually unscrewable draft....

Well, if I were them, I would simply continue losing like that so they can get the best chance possible at getting the first pick in the next NBA draft... unless they already made a trade giving that away as well.

The celtics had two really good players in Pierce and Allen... And they're both down. Allen for the season, Pierce suppose to get back after the all-star weekend.

Now, all they have are average players that don't seem to be able to find any rythm and/or organisation. Have you seen them play recently? It's horrible. And their record shows it well. 11 losing streak. WOW! I don't know if they're trying to beat Suns' winning streak but it seems like it's what's gonna happen.

I seriously think the Celtics should fire their coach first, then have someone who can get the best out of Telfair and Szczerbiak and right there, I'm sure there would be amelioration. Then their best chance would be to trade Pierce for some good players when he'll be REALLY healthy.

Unlike the Hawks, as much as the Celtics suck, they're not even young and full of potential. What I'm saying is: wait a couple years for them to get some great new players and maybe then we won't be ashame to call them a team

They aren't tanking; they are just poorly run. When Danny Ainge took over it was another step backwards for the once storied franchise. This is another reason to not hire ex-players who have no real experience in such roles. He coached the Suns into the ground before quitting and is now trying to make the Celtic's look like the Knicks. There is some talent there but maybe the wrong type of talent for the style of play...also Doc Rivers is highly over-rated in the hiring process and shows it when his team takes the court. They are new leadership away from having a good team but don't bring back Petino!

No they have had some big injuries. They have some good up & coming talent. Im a huge Celtics fan & I think Al Jefferson,R.Gomes, & Tony Allen has a good future in the NBA. If they do end up with the worst record they will get screwed by that crappy NBA lottery B.S. Thats how they lost the chance to get Tim Duncan. Could you imagine if they drafted Duncan that year.

Noone actually does that. These are pros. Even though the public perception of the NBA has changed drastically for the worse in the last few years, noone wants to tank a season. Plus Oden is considering staying in college another year, which would be besr for him.
