Can anyone help with panasonic DMR_EZ45VEBS the manual is very difficult to understand?

I wish panasonic would compose a better instruction manual as the present one is very hard to follow,how for example can the set up record different SKY channels in advance?why don't they issue a disc showing the functions?help would really be appreciated.
