A bunch of former classmates and I would like to have a school reunion in June 2008 for our headmaster's retirement. Our school is an international school and therefore some of our former students would probably have to fly in from all corners of the world. It is a fairly small school and I think in total it has had about 3000 graduates over its entire history. I am trying to figure out what the steps would be to plan this event from the internet but the info is mostly geared to the US and not applicable to Switzerland.

We do not have professional reunion planners in Geneva, so it will probably be up to us alumni to organize the event. 130 people have already shown interest in attending within the last week.

Most of the organizers are in their early twenties, but we want to get all of this right! Do you have any suggestions for us? The plan so far is to have it over a long weekend in the end of June 2008.

Thanks!

Its great that you are planning this so far in advance. Some people will have to save up serious money to go to this. I would definitely call the local hotels and temporarily reserve a block of rooms. Have your participants call and identify themselves with the reunion and make their own reservations there with their own credit cards within the time limit set by the hotel. If possible find a travel agent willing to take care of flights etc.

Try to contact your local travel agency and browse on the Internet on Switzerland at the same time. You might need at least 6 month advance of guarantee the place to meet and where the place to stay in, I imagine. So on.

the class president and contributors of the year e book committee took care of my 10 year reunion. I fell off the face of the earth after graduating, I only saved in touch with one buddy. He advised me I neglected it and asked if i needed to be recommended while the 20 year hits. I mentioned No!
