what makes titanic such a good movie?

Seriously, it's such an unrealistic story why does everyone love it so much?

It's a popular movie because it's got a little bit of appeal for many different people. I like the technology of the ship and the academy award-winning sound effects. But it's also a romance with early-teen appeal. It's an adventure action movie, it depicts class-struggle and it has a couple good villains, some nice-looking actors, even a sex scene. How can a movie lose with a formula like that?

i believe titanic is such a great movie, because it is such an original love story, maybe the poor guy falling in love with a rich girl isn't so original, but the way it happens and the storyline is amazing. i love the special effects, and the story. The movie has love, action,and some laughs, so it's amazing. i watched it so much when it came out i got it stuck in my vcr! i love it and usually try to watch it once or twice a month. The music is very well-known and awsome! it is a popular movie and i do believe the majority of people love it. the effects are awsome, and so is the sound, they don't make it look like it is a cheap set where they filmed it at. they make the ocean look real even though it was only 3 feet of water. The actors chemistry together is breathtaking! they go together so perfectly., the sex scene was very sweet, but hot too! I LOVE IT i think i will go watch it right now!!

I know a lot of [pretentious] people who "hate" the movie because its too popular and because Leonardo is in it [you know how unhip it is for some "artsy fartsy" to like an-ex teenybopper superstar]. But I can really feel that deep down their pretentious front, they really love the movie.

So to answer the question here are some of the reasons which i think why people loves the movie titanic:

- The movie is entertaining. Yes, the movie is very hollywood (some parts are predictable), but it is actually entertaining.

- The story is engaging. (you'll forget the cheesyness that it is a "rich girl-poor boy love" story)

-The effects are breathtaking.

-The actors are great. Especially KAte and some supporting actors. The one that I can remember is Kathy Bates as one of the socialites.

Not everyone loves it. Personally, I cringed when I saw Rose throw the diamond into the water. I mean, geez, it's worth a FORTUNE! She could have given it to her granddaughter or the guys searching for it.

What makes it such a good movie? Ah, for me, it was the fact Leonardo DiCrapio dies! Just like I watch DIE HARD to see Bruce Willis get injured.

I hate to admit this. But Titianic was a good movie. You have a love story taking place on a spectacular and historical luxury cruise ship. The forbidden love between the two and the tragic ending. If all that didnt move you the Vocals of Celine Dion in an amazing classic should definitley get u in mushy mushy romantic mood. :p

Honestly I don't think the majority loves it.
I think it was one of those movies that you can only watch once. I mean it was a good movie to see. Entertaining, emotional....blah blah blah. But I could never bring myself to sit down and watch it again. And everyone I've talked to says the same....
