I want to become a firefighter but I work full time. My bills won't go away and I don't have anybody that can take them over while I go to the academy. I need to know a way to get my certifications while being able to maintain my full time job.

There are academys around that will host classes at night and on Saturdays for those who have to work during the day. Of course, this academy would take longer, but it is a very effective way to become a firefighter. I don't know where you live, but there is a great one in Texas.

You have to be an EMT to become a firefighter, so you may want to consider going to school (usually one semester) to get your EMT-B license, and then you would have more flexibility with your firefighter training, working as an EMT. They usually do 24 on 48 off rotations.
