because contrary to what the government says, Crime does pay!. while we struggle to make ends meet, they pump iron, eat well, watch movies, and get high. the law is a weak @ss, and it is the Christian themed forgiveness within the system that gives these people rights. our early settlers were pumped full of the goodness of the bible, but you know what, laws only work on the lawful. just like gun laws, only we law abiding follow them. the criminals do what ever they want. the system is flawed in favor of the lawless.
I say that when you have no respect for anothers rights, you are not allowed to have them yourself.
why do people who rape and murder in cold blood have rights? they didnt allow their victim to have any. this world needs a hard hand to crush the villains. remove criminals rights, or vigilantes will make sure the balance is kept.
and if someone is in jail for life, isnt it better on our tax system to spend a dollar on a bullet, instead on air conditioned jails and turkey dinners?
ok, rant over.

First, no internet. Second, the 'free' education is GED, the rest is paid for by the inmates. Third, cable is not free.
Additionally, all inmates who earn an income either through work or money sent in from the outside are required to give a percentage to the state for their room and board, among other things.
Also, inmates having these items is not for their pleasure, they are behavior management tools for the staff - things to take away when they don't behave themselves.
There's a lot wrong with our criminal justice system, but these things aren't among them. Do some research and educate yourself before complaining. Or just stop complaining all together and get a job preventing crime if you're so concerned about it.

So you can whine and be jealous about "coddling criminals". Listen, kid: despite the bull you hear from Rush Limbaugh and the Lords of Loud, prison is NOT a kiddie playground. Any inmate who gets anything like cable and internet access EARNS it and when he's utilizing it, he's watched like a hawk so he can't f..k around with anyone on the "outside". You don't believe it, you come see me and I'll take you on a tour of the "Big House". You'll need to bring a jumbo-sized barf bag...and plenty of TP 'cause our inmates will scare the brown stuff right out of you!

its just part of the program to help get inmates back on thier feet. its a great idea i think. most people in prison never had the chance to get an education, hints why they are in prison to begin with. if you want a free education you could always get thrown in the pen... or you could just go to school and do your work and quit wasting your time wondering why on the internet, when you could be getting an education yourself.

Because locking someone up in complete quietness and giving no entertainment of any kind can cause a person to go crazy. Before you say who cares, they should not get any kind of entertainment just keep inmind that most in jail will be released sooner or later.Do you want more crazy people on the streets then whats already out there?

Because it's considered inhumane and unconstitutional to treat them the way they should be and used to be treated.
