80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

First of all, nothing is going to remain in this world, and the obvious answer may be 'IT IS RULE OF NATURE' but it is not the right one. Simply, because it utterly against any rationale or logic. Secondly, the objective of this life is to prepare for living life on the higher level of existence after death. This means that death is just a door that lets you into the next stage of existence. The process can be well defined by the instance of a seed which is sown. It is buried in the ground (that's death). Then it sprouts. The sprouted seed looks different, isn't it? That's because it lives on a different level of existence. It is not the same as it was - before it was sown in a field. Finally, we must gather knowledge in this world and exert ourselves so that we can understand the futility of all and get seasoned with it for better. It will help us to grow out of it and into the other level of existence, that is, the spiritual.

To love one another, to consider their heart and needs as your own, to instruct others to be self sufficient, to not pamper the sloth full and lazy,to give and help just causes and support these who do so also. Be a use full member of the body of Christ, the Church, in another word for those who may come to Christ; be Gods children united in worshiping Him by carrying out His commandments. Each of us has a definite purpose just as every cell in the body is for a specific job, minutely different, but different non the less, some are freshly created as others die off but it is moving forward through the life learning of the one created's life, the next generation observed the doing of the prior and so on, so a Divine plan will expand and unfold and in Eternity the faithfull shall marvel with the Creator at His wisdom's and unfathomable love.

As from the books, the goal of human life is Self realization.. To realize that you are not the body and you are the soul.. So when you die, you are still not dead.. Only the body is dead.. The soul is still there.. And it is ever present.. Once there is Self Realization, everything else falls into place.. all the stars, lakes, nature etc.. It is when you will know "WHY ONLY THIS RULE and not any OTHER ???"

Find out answer for the questions : Who are you? Why Iam here? What is our destination. Faith in Unseen is presumed by most of us as something against science. But if we go into physics or maths deeply, we will finally end up in faith without which science is invalid today. Same applies to Human, God, Soul etc. If you keep on asking questions without stopping at one particular point where Having Faith is the only answer, then you will hit the wall. Or start giving answers "Live & perish as u like". we humans are created with the 6th sense. When we see smoke at a distance, we infer that there is fire there. Likewise we use our 6th sense to conclude so many things in our normal life. Same we dont apply to religion. But every one accepts Death is 100%sure.
Today in this materialistic world, people think that everything should have proof. Religion dont have proof and so ignore it. Live as you like and perish when the time comes. This way of thinking itself is against science. Becos today the whole science is based on certain unseen faiths & beliefs. Example, in Maths we assume "Limit tends to infinity" and solve many complex problems. What is this Infinity? No man knows it. SImilarly in Physics we assume a smallest wave particle called "Photon" which dont have any proof for existence physically, then proceed with atomic physics. Without such assumption & faith, physics is meaningless. So faith is not against science, it is a part & basis of science. Likewise we have billions of wonders around us and in our own body to proclaim the existence of God. Belief in such an Entity will only make our actions better, give peace to our mind in spite of so much anxious moments of our life. We cant say that we can believe everything only when we touch, feel, see, hear etc.
Till now time is not defined scientifically. We can measure time and know that time will always go forward. There are few theories that time is going forward like how our universe is expanding. Time is a dimension for all measurements. Scientists say when everything move with the speed of light, then time dimension will not be there. After death this time dimension will not exist for us. We will lay silent in the grave (physically cant be explained becos the dimensions are different) until the judgement day. After that based on our actions, we will go to Heaven or Hell which will be eternal, means no time dimension.

It is good that you have commenced your questioning and you must be young. the more you contemplate, learn, understand the anwers will come from your within. Life and all of us as participants is a great teacher. I feel a life filled with joy savouring every moment should be the goal, although may not be possible all the time. We need to symplify life at every stage and that itself would make life's journey pleasent. Understand sorrow and get into the root cause of it, dont be baffled by it. Hindus assocaite themselves with the atman that is a part of the us and never dies although the body ages and dies. This atman is a part of god and is eternal, understand it and get on with your wonderful life.

This is a question of great depth, which might perhaps be arising out of certain anquish or agony on the part of the questioner. I am sorry if i sound casual with the question but have u ever paused to think why humans alone raise this question and why not others. why on earth one should ask this question. Instead, one can go about doing what he/she is supposed to do to take care of himself/herself, those who are around and find happiness in life, albeit short. May be its time u start reading stuff like the "monk who sold his ferrari" etc etc..

It's not that If every human shall have to die one that, that is a known fact, but everyone has their opinions on life, and mine is that you should live each day and enjoy it the best way you can. If there is somethng you love doing, such as a career with animals, or writer/painter/sculturist etcetera, then that would be your objective in life, to be the best one that you can be. Even if others are better than you, the things you do amount for much more with the people who now you than anyone who is famous or has made a name for themselves in one way or another.

When I was just a lad my Grandmother told me the most important thing I could do in my life was simply be a decent human being. And I've tried to live by that credo the past 40 some years.

Its HIS rule, 'cause he hasnt invented another one..lol jk.
I don't know.... why HIM nad not HER?
For example, my point is...we believe what we want to believe, why do you think it is HIS way or that everything is being ruled by nature?
It's uncertain what rules over us and our lives.
The only truth we have is that we are here, alive, enjoy many things and love fills up our lives.
As you say, life's too short to learn reasons. So dont question, just enjoy!!
P.S. I know we are humans and feel a need for question things...but also a nice response might quiet our doubts...at least for a while.
