I googled for it [Marijuana +pregnancy, see link below for results] and got a lot of data. while there is no general agreement, almost all sources say it's not a good idea to smoke during pregnancy and it could harm your baby.
One of the more credible sites [see link] had this to say:
"Marijuana use can reduce fertility in both men and women, making it difficult to conceive. If you are pregnant, you need to know that marijuana crosses the placenta and can affect your baby.
Marijuana use during pregnancy has been linked to low birth weight in the baby and withdrawal-like symptoms including excessive crying, tremors, hyperemesis (severe and chronic vomiting). Some studies, though not all, show that women who use marijuana even as infrequently as once a month throughout pregnancy are more likely to gain inadequate weight, to have dangerously rapid labor, prolonged or arrested labor, or a cesarean section. They are also more likely to have a baby that needs resuscitation after delivery.
Maternal marijuana use may also damage genes, possibly resulting in birth defects or cancer and lead to increased risk of attention disorders and learning problems later in life. Marijuana has also been shown to adversely affect placental function and the fetal endocrine system, potentially interfering with the successful completion of pregnancy."
As a light user, your risks are likely smaller, but I'd have to agree with the answers that say stop before you try to conceive. I'll add an interesting personal note: my mother smoked cigarettes for years, but each of the 4 times she got pregnant, she immediately stopped smoking until the baby was born and she'd finished nursing. I once asked her if it was hard to quit and she said that each time the baby was too important for her not to quit.

honestly, marijuana is bad for that baby, same as any kind of drug. When I got pregnant with my first i was smoking for the first month and 1/2 because I didn't know I was pregnant. When I found out I stopped right away, and havn't done it since. Thank god, I gave birth to a healthy beautiful little girl. And now I'm preganant with number 2. When I found out that I was pregnant I did alot of research and found out that the risks of birth defects arn't that of the risks with meth, or even cigg's are more harmful (unless you smoke alot) But the guilt and worries that you get not knowing that somthing is wrong with your baby is the worse feeling in the world. So stop as soon as you can, if only for pieace of mind.

You need to stop smoking when you think you are ready to start trying to conceive - which means now. For one, you don't know how long it will take to conceive so you need your body healthy right away; and two, if you're going to be adult enough to make a child you need to be adult enough to not gamble that any drug use will effect your child. You are born with all your eggs so you don't need to worry about making bum eggs but if your partner is smoking he needs to stop 3 months before you start to try - the sperm lifecycle is 3 months.

If you smoke marijuana purely for recreation, I would stop when you start trying, just as you would alcohol. That is why I did.
However, if you use it for some sort of medical condition you likely will not have to give it up as it has been approved for use during pregnancy.

Take care. And remember there isn't really any difference between herbs, prescription drugs, over the counter drugs, and illegal drugs. Someone just put things in different categories arbitrarily. But you should weigh the risks and benefits of any of them before use during pregnancy.

Well your chances of concieving are lower when you smoke pot so if you are trying to get preognant it will lower your odds. Also in my opinion it would be easier to quit before you get pregnant with all the added stress I could see a source of relaxation being hard to give up so I would definatly quit once you decide to start trying.
Good luck!

If you are trying to conceive you should stop now. If you are just thinking about the future then I would stop 3-6 months before you start trying. Smoking, whether it's cigs or pot can cause you to have stunted eggs, meaning they are smaller than healthy ones, making it harder to conceive. It can also cause to to not ovulate at all or to skip months. If your partner smokes, he should stop as well since it can cause his sperm to be smaller too.

You should stop a month before you start trying. It takes a month to get out of your system so a month should be ok.
