I'm tired of getting goop in the corner of my eye that is the same color as my eyeliner. Will switching to liquid liner solve this? And I've heard that liquid liner can flake off?

For years, I worked in a department for various companies. One of which, was Lancome. Lancome taught it's consultants to wear liquid eyeliner on the top and pencil on the bottom. If you are putting your eyeliner pencil in your eye, you need to stop that right now. It can cause an infection.

To apply liquid eyeliner, look into the mirror and hold your mouth in the shape of an "O". This will keep you from blinking. Gently pull the corner of your eye to make a smooth surface. Rest the palm of your hand under your eye and hold the applicator like a pencil resting it the tip of the brush at the base of your top eyelashes. Make a smooth gentle stroke. Repeat if necessary to get the depth of color you are looking for.

As for the bottom, use a pencil under your bottom lashes then set it with a little face powder on a q-tip. It will keep it from smudging.

Remember all eye makeup products should be replaced every 3-6 months. If someone's liquid eyeliner is flaking, it is probably old and needs to be replaced.

A good eye liner works pretty well, you could always use a laq over to seal it (she laq by benefit) Liquid eyeliner usually looks really good if well applied...it does take a while to learn how to-i gave up! MAC do this really great eye liner goop stuff, it doesnt smudge or gloop and you apply it with a special brush. The pot lasts 6 months and is well worth the 10 pounds it is, the brush gives a really smooth effect that can be adjusted for more precise lines to smokey. No more gloopy corners:)

Neither - I like using Gel Liners by MAC, Stila and Bobbi Brown. Not only are gels more dense in terms of color pigment, they last forever without smudging, even when applied on the inner rim of the lower lid.

I like using Stila's Smudgepot in Black and MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack for a dark smoky eye and the only way that stuff comes off is if you use an oily eye make up remover. It lasts ALL day.

Liquid liner stays put only if it's waterproof and even that can come off in flakes after about six to seven hours. Switch to gel lienrs, trust me - you won't have to deal with "goop" anymore!!

Liquid liner does not flake off, but it is harder to apply it. It wont glob up in the corners of your eyes! You could also try a creme eyeliner. MAC makes one for $12 and it is smudge proof and water resistant. I REALLY recommend that one.

Everyone has their own preferences but I choose to stay away from Liquid eye liner & pencil. When I want a line of any color I use a thin layer of eye shadow and apply it to the edge of my lash line. Blue, purple, balck, brown.. any color basically.. and it doesnt get in the corner of my eyes.

personally, i go for a dark gray pencil eyeliner in the day, and use liquid eyeliner at night. however, liquid eye liner is very tricky to apply, but once you get the hang of it, it's a snap.

try not putting eyeliner on the inside of your eyelids, this causes the goop. apply it sparesly.
liquid eyeliner does not flake, but it is a bit tricky to apply. get some practise with it.
or invest in a really decent penicl eyeliner. the slightly more expensive ones are better for non-goopiness.

I guess it depends what kind of look you're going for.

If you a bold, darker, defined look you could use either. But liquid stays longer and doesn't smear. Go for a good brand to avoid flaking and goppiness...I like MAC.

Pencils are nice if you want to be able to smudge your liner and get a nice smokey look.
