I only ask this, because they both deal with sorcery and a character named Harry Potter.

I don't think the "Troll" movie influenced Rowling in any way. Aside from the name of the main character in both movies there are no other similarities. The name and the sorcery are just coincidences.

I wondered the same thing. The basis of Harry Potter is not from the movie troll but the character name is. Rowlings character traits are all her own concept.
