A lot of people on here are STILL wrong after answering your question... Levonorgestrel is a synthetic progestogen used as an active ingredient in hormonal contraceptives. It is the same chemical that is used in emergency contraceptives, just a much higher amount. (1500 μg for EC as apposed to 30-200 μg for BC) Remember that Plan B is not Mifeprex/Mifepristone (RU-486 -the abortion pill). Because Plan B is used to prevent an unplanned pregnancy mainly by stopping the release of an egg from the ovary, and may also prevent the fertilization of an egg , IT WILL NOT WORK IF YOU'RE ALREADY PREGNANT. If you take Plan B and are already pregnant, it will not affect your existing pregnancy. Mifeprex/Mifepristone is used to terminate intrauterine pregnancies of up to 49 days gestation. Under the FDA-approved regimen, a 600 mg dose is administered by a clinician following a counseling session. It works by stopping the supply of hormones that maintains the interior of the uterus. Without these hormones, the uterus cannot support the pregnancy and the contents of the uterus are expelled.

All at once, or after every time you have unprotected sex? Taking plan B is like taking an entire month's package of birth control pills all at once. While excellent for emergency contraception, no one should have that many emergencies. It can really mess up your hormones. Just go on the regular pill and use condoms to protect against STDs!

All at once or over a period of time? All at once, then yes! It is unhealthy! One pill does a lot better than 10. You can od on anything, and you could have some odd side effects!
If you are talking about over a period of time, it isn't horrible for you, but you should definately consider a different method of birth control. Try a condom and the pill, it is a lot more effective and cheaper than running to the pharmacy every other week.

Plan B contraceptive pill (aka morning after pill) can only be taken once a month. It works through delaying or preventing ovulation, which comes, once a month. It will mess up your cycling period thus taking it the second time during the same month will not work as promised.

Since they were approved about a year ago, I'll bet there aren't any long-term studies of the effects of taking Plan B a lot. Which means, you're setting yourself up for any number of reproductive (and other) issues in the future.
On a totally different note, if you're so stupid that you keep having to take Plan B, you shouldn't even be let out of the house, nevermind having sex. There is NO EXCUSE to get pregnant in this day and age if you don't want to be. There are any number of easily accessible, effective methods (condoms, to name one, you can buy 12 for about $8 -- if you can't afford $8 you shouldn't be having sex since you DEFINITELY can't afford a baby).

Abstinence is the only way to be sure you are safe. At least use a birth control pill, don't rely on emergency contraceptives.

yes. If you use that as a form of birth control and not just as emergency contraceptive (aka once or twice in your lifetime), then yes. The Plan b can have serious side effects.
