IS a taste of honey worse than no taste at all, as they say?
Should has beens continually try for that comeback, a la Justin Guarini or should they just find something else to do with their lives?

Oddly enough, my band back in the 80s was a one hit wonder and despite what others here think, once you pay the record company, the Marketing, the Distributers etc etc, unless your one hit is HUUUUUUGE, you never see a penny, really.
I get a royalty cheque every six months and I can take my family to Swiss Chalet on it, and that's it.
Luckily, we never tried to recapture lightning and eventually moved on, though I have friends from that life who are still plunking away in the clubs or doing gigs here and there and I admire them, but I could never live my life being 23 forever.
It was fun and I loved the attention, but It's not enough to live a whole life on the memories of one three or four month period.

One hit wonder! At least I could say that I was famous, if only for a little while. I could also get royalty checks from my music. In some things, it is better to have a taste of something, rather than to never experience the taste. As far as Justin Guarini is concerned, I never considered him that great a talent, nor is Kelly Clarkson

I'd rather be a never been, because that's what I am, and that's what I'm comfortable being. Besides, I don't like the media, I don't like people, and I'm a sociopath. The 15 minutes of fame would drive me insane.

I would rather have had at least one hit that way people would have downloaded my song and or bought my CD and I would have made some money

one-hit wonders are well-known by many people and on tv sometimes they have entire shows dedicated to them. when someone says "oh there's that one hit song by that band" i remind them that the band has one more hit than the person does.

A one hit wonder, so what if you're having jokes cracked about you, at least you made your mark. Even if it is a very tiny mark.
