Does the court of appeals automatically hear the case or do they review the Judges decision and then decide to rule with the judgeor not. If they favor the judges decision, is the appeal denied or does it still get heard again?
Thanks you,

First, you have to file a timely appeal of the trial court's final decision.
Second, it has to be a court from which you can appeal, not just a small claims court.
Third, you have to file a brief and probably have to request an oral argument. Your brief has to raise errors of law committed by the trial court, not just that you don't like the trial court's decision.
Fourth, if you win your appeal, the court of appeals can decide that you should have won or that you should have a new trial on the issues that you raised.
Bottom line. It's not automatic, you have to file a timely appeal. In most cases, that means paying the entire liability or obtaining a bond to secure payment of the entire liability if you lose.
I have not given you Louisiana appellate procedure, but it probably is pretty close to the other state I know.
