I live in Los Angeles. It has been in the 70's by day, 40's by night, with rainy season still to come. My roses keep trying to sprout new buds, even though I cut them all the way back in December - shouldn't they be dormant? Should I snap off the new growth or just let them be?

Since you have already pruned them there is nothing else for you to do. If our great weather keeps going the way it is all you have to worry about is when is it time to feed them. Remember, there are places that roses grow year round, so just sit back and enjoy them. I'm in Northern Cal. and even some of mine didn't want to quit for the winter.

I think you should let them be. After the frosts stop you can do some cleanup pruning on them, but if you remove too much you may lose more of them to frosts than if you let them be.

Let them be until you reach the time of year you would normally prune them back. (I'm in BC, Canada)

Coastal Gardner or Sunset magazine is based in California check out their web page.

Good luck.
