The US left was saddened when Saddam was executed, will the City of Miami's plans to celebrate Castro's impending death in the Orange Bowl upset people other than the Cubans who came to America to wait Castro out? Is it proper for a city administration to plan this event?

I do not think it is entirely appropriate for a city to be celebrating someone's death. Now, if communism fell in Cuba as a result, that would be something worth celebrating.

It very definately is wrong. The Cubans who fled the Revolution were not "freedom-loving"--they were the supporters of the Batista dictatorship. The Cuban-American community are long since--except for these old elitists-primarily Americans.

Don't get me wrong--the sooner Cuba is freed of communism the better. But this will only alienate many Cubans who support Castro--and will only strengthen Raoul's claim as successor and his accusations of US imperialism. Even those (perhaps the majority) of Cubans who oppose castro don't want that "old guard" back--and have no use for their pretensions of being fighters for Cuba Libre.

They will need 100 Orange Bowls to accomodate the partyer's who will attend when old Fidel is sleeping with the worms.
Miami is very skilled at hosting big events ie. Super Bowls so this should not be a problem.
