Office Word is more user friendly to me.

Microsoft Works is the very cheap cousin to Office. Since 80+% of businesses use Microsoft Word, it just makes good sense to use the word processing that is universally accepted. Works was not meant to be compatible with Word or anything else, it was just Microsoft's way of getting something installed with their operating system. Most people don't catch on until they try to open a works document in word, and vice versa. Yes, genuine Office costs a little more, but it's worth it.

Definitely Word - Altho they appear to look quite similar on first using them, once you have used each of them for some time you find Word has a whole ton of more stuff on it than Works, there is SO much you can do on Word (one of my most often used programs....I use it for ALL kinds of things, not just word processing!)
