if f(x)=sqreroot, g(x)=x-4 and h(x)=1/x-2. how can I find an equation of; f+h and h-g ?

I started it like this way: f+g= squarerootx+x-4 ( is\ just don't know the next step)

h-g= 1/x-2-x-4.. what's next?

You've done it right. The key is to use parenthesis so that you ensure everything has the correct sign. There's no step after that unless you can simplify.
f = √x
h = 1/x - 2
f + h = (√x) + (1/x - 2)

h - g = (1/x - 2) - (x - 4)
