The number of archangels varies, Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel or Jibril are the chief ones. Unfortunately there are many names for the remaining 5 archangels, depending on beliefs and tradition; Uriel or Auriel, Sariel, Raguel, Remiel, Zadkiel, Jophiel, Haniel, Chamuel, Selaphiel, Jegudiel, Barachiel, Azrael or Ezrail, Malak al-Maut, Israfil, Malik, Munkar, Nakir, Radwan, Oriphiel, Anael, Zachariel, Samael, Ahriman, Metraton, Saraqael and Satanel.

I don't think Michael tried to kill Lucifer....If you take a close look at the supernaturals echelons Lucifer was more powerful then Michael, Gabriel and Uriel combined.
