No I don't believe they have anymore obligation to go public then say a normal member of the public would. Celebrities are not braver or able to handle these situations any better then the general public . We are all human and will deal with it in our own ways. Some celebrities may feel they have to go public with the news before the media put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5.
At times like this we should respect peoples privacy if that's the way they want to handle it.

I remember when the world was trying to get Freddie Mercury to admit he had AIDS, I didn't see any reason why he should divulge this sort of information. Celebrities are not owned mind body and soul by the public and the only reason magazines, tv etc insists such information is of importance to the public is because they know it will sell their rags.

I don't know that they actually have an "obligation", but I think they feel pressured to "go public" with it.... more than likely, the media would find out anyway.

i think yes.because people are interested in knowing about their lives.people want to know that what's going on in their favourite actor's life.but i think it's their will that they want to publicise their personal lives.they should also be given some privacy because they are also human.it's not necessary that they tell each and every important news to people.
