why does it make me feel self-conscious?

Social gatherings. I feel like if they talk to me it I don't know makes me feel just as worthy

Sounds like you feel left out. Don't take it personally if they're not talking to you at the moment...it doesn't mean you're not worthy. Maybe next time you sit down to eat you could try starting the conversation by asking how everyone's day went, or by mentioning something that happened in your life that day. Just remember if your talking you you don't learn as much and don't get to enjoy the food. I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you.

You should enjoy your dinner and not talk at the table. Dinner is a time to eat not talk.
