i am looking into off campus student housing for college. I have no previous rental history or any past credit history. Would i be required to have a co-signer even if i have the full amount for one year's lease?

It depends on the apartment complex. When I was looking for off campus housing, one place I went to wanted my parents to sign. However the one I ended up living at did not have that requirement. You must have some credit history even if it is a savings account or a checking account. Also student loans count. If you live in a college town or right near campus, the apartment complexes understand that you are a college student and may not have prior history.

FYI- make sure your name is on the lease and the utilities. This will add to your credit history so when you move again you can show that you paid your bills on time.

Best of Luck!

I would guess that there is someone willing to take your money for a year and be happy with that. I do not know the requirements, but everyone has to build some credit history to have some.

i would think it depends if they do a credit check and how good ur credit actually is to them.
