Iran doesn't like America because America wants them to get everything they do approved by them and the U.N. America decides what's best for everyone and the world.
America has a problem with Iran because Iran doesn't want to be a follower and do as they're told.
America tries to have a global picture of things and consider how a leader, faction, or other significant events in a region will affect the global picture. Iran just wants to be their own boss - consequences be damned.

The funny part of this is that the majority of Iranians do not hate America. This hatred is being fomented by the radical clerics and their hand-picked hitman, Ahmadinijhad. There was a story on Fox News Channel this weekend where they interviewed a number of Iranians who would like to have beeter diplomatic relations with the USA and are against what their leaders are doing. Remember, before the Shah fell, Iran and the USA were allied. I wish we could go back to that.

Many Iranians are are resentful of the US for supporting the former government which was headed by the Shah, it was a corrupt gov't that didn't look out for the people, and was not governed by Islamic fundamentalism.
When the Iranians over-threw that gov't, the radical Islamic element rose to power and abducted 52 of our diplomats and held them hostage for 444 days, causing much anti-Iranian sentiment in the States.
It also doesn't help when we see the anti-US rallies and propaganda which is posted all over Tehran coupled with a saber rattling leader threatening to wipe an entire people off of the map while developing nukes. Fortunately, it seems that a majority of Iranians don't agree with his stance, as recent Iranian elections have shown.

Sure. Iran is a Muslim nation. Islam teaches that Christians are heretics because they believe in the Trinity whereas Muslims believe in one God (not divided). They want to either convert or eliminate Christians. America is seen as a Christian nation.
America doesn't like the fact that Iran hates them and wants to destroy them. They don't like the fact that Iran sponsors terrorism and has sent rabble rousers into Iraq to stir up violence in that nation.
Sure Muslims believe in and love Jesus. They just think he was a prophet and not the son of God. They also believe that he was never crucified. Both of these beliefs strongly conflict with the Christian viewpoint. Yes, there are many peace-loving Muslims. However, the "fundamentalist" sects are strongly opposed to Christians and Jews. Don't kid yourself. It's all about religion. The president of Iran has publicly stated that he feels it is his responsibility to bring about world chaos in order to pave the way for the coming of the 12th Imam who will rise from his hiding and rule the world for 7 years before the final judgement of God.

We called them part of the axis of evil and have rediculed their religion and threatened their security and told them they could not produce nuclear energy.
