I'm wondering if anyone else has hooked up a hdtv tv with standard cable and tivo. And how it looks? I know that people say that I should get hd cable service but right now thats not an opition and we want to get a new tv so I'm wondering how they look with standard cable and tivo. Thank-you.

Standard definition looks fine on an HDTV. I have 50" HD-plasma and I watch alot of standard Tv on it and it looks good. Many of your local channels should broadcast in HD now. All you have to do is buy a HD-indoor antenna (around $20-$30) and you will get local HD channels. But the TV you buy needs to have a HD tuner built-in. Most new HDTV's do. Tivo works the same regardless if it's standard or HD.

Hi Jen,

I have a new series 3 Tivo and a Tivo series 2. They both look good on a HD TV. They are not HD but they are excellent quality.

The series 3 picture is the best perhaps because even though I am recording standard definition it is simply doing a better job.
