Why are liberals portrayed as being cooler than conservatives?

Other than the fact they are, can you think of other reasons?

Generally, they are more educated. There are always exceptions, of course, but on the whole. Education gives people the capability to see the larger picture and think logically. Cool people do that, too.

Also, Cary Grant dropped more acid than my mother. If that's possible.

That's easy...Liberals are "portrayed" (your words, not mine)as being cooler than Conservatives because Liberals are about their image. They're selfish. They're full of "good" intentions but do virtually nothing to fulfill those intentions. You'll see them all of the time on TV, talking about what this nation needs.

Conservatives typically are not on TV because they're working and are too busy for the BS.

On the other hand, Conservatives get the job done despite the loss of political reputation. Conservatives realize that they actually have a job to do, and they get it done.

Liberals are about having parties, and sex with interns. When Conservatives are about nose-to-the-grindstone, get-the-job-done kind of stuff.

Because Conservatives don't give a rats *** about being cool, popular, or any of that other stuff. Most Conservatives get out of that when they graduate from high school. Liberals are only cooler to other Liberals, which make them feel better about their agendas. Conservatives don't need to be cool to feel good about themselves. Democrats only said what the people wanted to hear so they could get into office. They told the people they would get our soldiers out of Iraq, which has failed. they also said they were gonna increase minimum wage, which failed as well. So you see, being cool, only gets you so far. I was never in the popular groups at school. What's it like being a follower and not a leader?

I hope they stay cooler because since most hippies do not use deodorant, it would make for a stinky situation...I hate women with under arm hair...most Liberals are the rejects in high school that "found" themselves in college because of a reject professor...I went to a Liberal university and the crap did not rub off on me...I used to love to piss my ultra lib professors off...they would say crap like..."...no one should own a gun...guns kill people..." and I would say back,"...so you don't own a gun huh? I do, so that means I can come over to your house and take all your stuff right?" My scrotum is cooler than most Liberals....

I think it's in the wording. When people hear the word "conservative" it tends to bring to mind images prudishness or a stuck-up attitude. Relate that word to a person and somehow it causes an unfair and biased view.
Of course, I am only speaking my opinion here.

Cooler? Thats a pretty subjective word. I think that their more modernistic and progressive approach to the issues might make them seem 'cool'. Just look at the two labels - liberal and conservative. If someone has liberal parents, they think of them as cool. If their parents are conservative, it means that they are more strict.

I don't consider myself cool but I am liberal and I can't belive some of the answers. There is nothing anti-American about allowing people the pursuit of happiness or the freedom of expression. I think all you people should move to China I think you'll feel very much at home there.

They are not "portrayed", it's just a fact of life. By the very definition, the liberals are more open minded than the staunch and stale conservative crowd. In addition, the recent generation of conservatives (who are no longer such, in reality) reneged on its duty to American People, dragged us into a deadly and expensive war and did nothing to stop illegal immigration, while it was entirely doable. So yeah, right now liberals look a whole lot cooler than a bunch of corrupt crooks who call themselves conservatives.

Liberals get to have more sex, rationalize the use of many of the milder illegal drugs (like pot) and are, in theory, crusading for the Little guy" which is i and of itself cool.

Conservatives, being pro-Big Business and favoring corporations over humans, tend to make really good bad guys.

Most the Bond villains for example had Conservative political leanings if they had any at all. In the books, this is even true of the Communist villains!
