Okay, last month when my period started, it was nothing more than brown spotting and lasted 3 days, never turning into a trickle or even a flow. I thought it might have been implantation bleeding and have taken two tests since. Both were negative. I decided that I would wait till my next due period and see if it started or not.

Well, my next period is due in a week now. But on Friday night, I went to urinate and when I wiped I experienced some reddish brown spotting, but that was it. The next day, nothing. Why did I experience spotting one week before my period is due?

You can try one more test now and see what the results are - if still negative then the bleeding isn't pregnancy related. Make an appointment with doc because bleeding may be a sign of other issues going on.

I would take another test now and see if it is still negative. If so, I think there may be something else going on. It could be that you are completely off with your cycles and are experiencing spotting near ovulation. You could also not be ovulating and, therefore, not having a period. The best bet would be to talk with your doctor. However, you could also start charting your cycles to determine your ovulation status and possible pregnancy.

If you had two negative preg. tests, chances are very slim that you are pregnant (if indeed you took them after your period was due.)

There are some factors that could cause spotting between periods. Are you on birth control? Stressed?

If you are concerned, I would just make an appt. to an OB/GYN to get it checked out.

Spotting is not normally an indicator of pregnancy...but, everyone is different.

If you have any thought that you might be pregnant, i.e., you had unprotected sex, your best bet is to get an over-the-counter pregnancy test at your local grocery or pharmacy and use it...then back it up with an appointment to your OBGYN.

Don't know if you are on any type of birth control pill or oral contraceptive, but if so, spotting is a normal side effect and nothing to worry about.

No matter the reason, you need to see your OB.
