What should my daughter be doing as far as social and physical development? I know that babies all grow at different rates, but in general...?

smiling starting to make babbly noises starting to explore with her hands and just starting to become more alert.

I think that Fred is thinking of the Electra Complex, opposite of the Oedipus Complex.

Anyway, try subscribing to BabyCenter.com. They'll give you a week by week look at what your baby should be doing with advice, etc. It's free and really helpful. Also, go to Parenting.com. They have a free magazine called BabyTalk that is helpful as well.

she smiles,recognizes different people,shes vocal,she makes faces and she can recognize mommy anywhere.

they stare at you a lot. and she'll think your wife as her rival, because she thinks you as a romantic material. (I forgot the psychology term for this phenomena) So....show her you love her a lot, as much as you love your wife!
