Maria has been having major trouble with her serve lately. She had a massive amount of double faults during the tournament.The commentators talked about it during the Australian Open. She is just much better than a lot of the female players out there right now. Most of them just couldn't get past the rest of her game.

Maria is a great player and obviously going to be a real threat at all the grand slams in 2007, but on Saturday she played against a player that was playing the best match of her life! Everything Williams touched turned to gold, and it will only be on rare occassions that this will happen. Maria has a more complete game than Serena, but Serena has more strength, so ultimately who wins the match depends on Serena. I'm sure if they played at the beginning of the tournament, Maria would have won 6-0 in both, but Serena warmed to the occassion, and it is unlikely she will ever play that well ever again.

i saw on her side too..i dunno why she wasnt that good in the final against Williams..i knoe Williams isnt an easy opponent but still the history for Sharapova for me is better than Williams and allows her to win a tournament like this ..If she was able to reach the final then she for sure had the ability to win the final..may be she was afraid of williams> i dont think so she is much stronger than this

Serena dictated the match from the beginning with her power....which didn't allow Maria to get a foot hold...

Don't forget, Maria almost lost her first match in the Australian Open, but rallied to win.
Even though she was in the final, this was not her best tournament.
