People still have the right to be offensive, as long as they don't mind being slapped with a lawsuit, or just plain slapped.

I don't think that the real problem is people taking responsibility for what they say. Rather, I think the issue is the unfair treatment of some groups over other groups. In effect, it is an issue of reverse discrimination. If you are not the race or ethnic group you are not allowed to speak frankly about certain issues. This is inherently anti-intellectual. If we hope to overcome common problems faced by diverse populations, PC talk has to end. Only by being able to speak how you feel and not feel threatened that your ideas are not "acceptable." Careers have been destroyed by this nonsense, and it is not reasonable or necessary.

I suppose people are free, essentially, to say whatever they want but the problem comes with the possibility of offending people.
I guess some things are a sensitive topic for people and they are defensive about things that are said.
It's not illegal but I think many people try to avoid making anyone feel uncomfortable.

I try to be nice as possible to people, but I do not have to apologize for: believing in/speaking about God, flying the stars and stripes, killing animals for sport, driving a car, speaking English, or packing a gun. They are all American pastimes and if that offends someone then there's other places to live.
Have a nice PC day!

It's an excuse to dunb down our youth.
When someone challenges my ideas and beliefs, I defend myself. I come up with a cohearant argument to debate.
But like you said people are too scared to challenge ideas.
you teach your kids about God, and to love worship and follow him.
But then an atheist challenges the idea. Well that initilal challenge would be "ploitically inncorect" But how can tha child know the REAL reason they believe this? arwe they worshiping becauese their suposed too, or do they actually have faith?
Well without the challenge, this child would never be provoked to ponder. They wouldn't know any arguments to defend themselve4s, and they would sound like a bumbleing idiot. Much like Bush, you can tell no one challenged his brain, so he never exercised it.
DO WE WANT OUR KIDS TURNING OUT LIKE THAT!!!!

People ought to be able to express themselves politically without repercussions from employers which is wrongful discrimination. It also just encourages brown-nosing which I guess we will always have anyways and I guess you correctly call PC.
