I am very excited and frightened by the idea of the live action movie. With today's technology, the movie can be amazing. The problem I have right now is that they are again re-imagining the concept of generation 1 and have a very limited cast. I am hoping that the Transformers do not become some background objects for a human storyline, and that the main focus stays on the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons.

The biggest difference is that this movie is being made as a Hollywood production with BIG names attached for the design and editing aspects. The old cartoon movie was done more as a long advertisement to promote the sale of new toys.

Seems that many of the 80's properties are being brought back lately, just hope it does not get dumped on like all the bad press Dukes of Hazzard got.

I'm not looking forward to it like I was the Animated one as a youngster because the story involved some of the favorite Transformer characters as featured in the cartoon...Scatman Cothers is'nt around to do Jazz anymore...it's not the same...Bumble Bee is a Camaro?...Megatron is a tank?...Grimlock is part of the Autobots instead of leading the Dinobots?....no Soundwave or Shockwave?...No Constructicons?...some things are better left alone...they should have done a live action G.I. Joe..that would have been tight if it is cast right.

Well firstly we do have some excellent computer graphics for making "live" characters. But personally I won't be watching it. Most films I always will say"okay, I'll give it a chance" but then there are some films, usually musicals and art house movies I won't look at ever. Transformers is neither but I'm still not going to see it.

I'm looking so forward to Fantastic Four 2 and Ghost Rider!

I am dying to see the new Transformers movie. Not that I expect it to be like the 86 movie. I am just such a huge fan I like seeing anyone's take on the Transformers and someone with $150M budget should be able to show some wicked scenes. I am planning on seeing the opening show. I don't care if I have to stand outside like a nerd. Hope I see ya there!

i think the outpouring of remakes such as the new transformers or the upcoming teenage mutant ninja turtles movies are a result of those that are nostalgic for those movies (you and I are in the same boat here) growing up and becoming movie directors. personally i think the transformers should have only been done live, but they just didn't have the computer animation technology to make it look good 20 years ago.
