The OFFICIAL mpg figures for the Mini Cooper S is 32mpg

Quite low for a 1.6 I would say. In reality your going to get mid to high 20s if you're careful and low 20s when on a more "spirited" drive.

I think it is around 40mpg combined - i.e. 40mpg for a mix of town and open road driving. If you are looking for a higher fuel economy look at the Mini ONE. It has the highest mpg for that age of MINI.

Realistic mpg will depend on your driving style. Low revs, planning ahead and gentle acceleration are thought to help optimise fuel economy.

If you are hoping for a better fuel economy, you would be better off saving for a new one. The 2007 models add about 8 mpg. The most fuel economic MINI is to be the Cooper D (achieving around 60mpg) - expected to launch around April.

Hope that helps.

the official mileage is the original rating. actual milage is usually 5-10% less.if not well maintained, it'll be even less.
