I agree with you, make sacrifices and stay at home when the kids are young, what's the point of having kids otherwise? So they can spend all day with strangers? The only problem is that not everyone can do this, especially single mothers...

well it depends on the situation. Which is better for the baby?sitting home with them and being poor? does husband work so you can stay home. are you living on welfare and not trying to make anything better. its hard to say. I stayed home the first year while my husband worked but when we couldn't make it on his income alone then I found work. At first I took on a second shift job so he stayed home with the kids so we didn't have the expense of daycare. Daycare is good to kids get to be around others and interact, so they learn its ok for the parents to leave, they will be back. its all about choices and life situations. If you can make ends make and cant pay the bills then its probably better for the baby if you work and have money. money isn't everything but everything cost money. Some people are made to be able to stay home and are fine with that, others they need that time away from the house they might be working but its a break from it all.

I have been home with my kids and poor....but now I am working and they are in daycare, but still poor. I am now a single mother though and don't have a choice, but if I could I would stay home with my kids.

I have 8 month old twin boys(Adorable), ...anyway, not only can I not afford to put both in daycare right now, I would be missing out on so much of all their "firsts" My husband works, and we are without a 2nd paycheck, but we make it work and I wouldn't have it any other way!

I chose poor and at home. I will never regret that decision. I'm the one who got to see there first smile, their first step, the first anything, and being at home mom had WAAAAAY more rewards than ever having money and material things.

i would love to be at home with my baby. but for financial reasons i need to be at work. if it were possible (i don't need much) i would have stayed at home. so if you can do then make the sacrifice now and be with your child now during the formative years. you won't regret it.

I'd rather have money and remain childless.
