Why on Earth would you want to play for Dave Wannstedt? In 2004 (before Wannstedt), they reached a BCS Bowl (The Fiesta Bowl).
In 2005, they went 5-6, and in 2006, they went 6-6.
5 teams received Bowl Bids from the Big East in 2006 - Louisville, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Rutgers, South Florida. Pitt was not one of them.

Yes all College teams accept walk ons and have try-outs!

yes all NFL teams hold open tryouts. But you have to schedule a meeting with the teams agents.
