I know everyone does it but it is dangerous for a baby to be clicked into the shopping cart. The cart can tip over with the extra weight on the end. My husband and I would put her in the deep basket part of the cart inside her car seat until she was about 6 weeks old then I had a baby bjorn carrier and carried her that way until she was about 6 or 7 months old.

Yes, as the others say here the car seat on the cart is NOT safe. I have seen two separate incidents: one where an older child stood on the cart and tipped the whole thing over, car seat, baby, cart and child all spilled on the floor; and the other time was where a mother turned a corner and over went the car seat onto the floor. I have 4 kids and I will no longer set any car seats in that part of the cart.
For a while when my middle child was young my husband worked a lot of hours so I often went to the store alone. I would put his car seat down in the basket and get as much as I could without burying him in there, LOL. My solution when I did have a lot on my list was to bring my sister along. She pushed one cart with the car seat down in the basket part and my older child sat in the front of the cart by the handle, and I pushed another with the groceries in it. When I was completely desperate a couple of times I actually pushed my kids in one cart and pulled another behind me with the groceries in it. It worked pretty well.
My 4th child is 5 months. She likes the front carrier very well and often I will "wear" her if I have to be in a store for a while. It also allows me to nurse discreetly while shopping. My oldest is 13 now so when I have to truck everyone through the store one of my older kids just pushes the cart.
Good luck with that and be safe!

Well, maybe try using the carts w/ the car seat attached, bring a blanket to put down first. Or else use the stroller that comes w/ the system until baby can sit up unassisted, then they make shopping cart covers.

I have the same problem with my baby's car seat, too big to fit on a cart. It's hard to believe something so small requires a big clunky car seat that is supposed to be portable. I use a "harness"

and that works wonderfully. Baby sleeps while I am shopping and it frees me up to go from store to store without much difficulty. I purchased mine for right around $15 at a discount store, as you can see by the link, they can be rather pricy, but worth the money. My little guy is now six months old and can face outward and he is perfectly content to be in there while I am shopping.

actually, even if it fit on the cart, it isn't entirely safe. carseats manage to get knocked off of carts pretty often. when i took my baby shopping with his car seat, i just set in down in the basket. it is much safer, and you will still have room for a fair amount of food. so as long as your grocery list isn't huge, that works well.
you can also try carrying your baby in a sling or the carriers you wear on your chest. you baby would probably prefer to be carried than in the carseat anyway!

I used to just set the carseat down into the basket part of the cart, and put everything around her. Or, sometimes you can set the carseat sideways into the cart seat area. That works too.

in case you bypass out to the save procuring and also you bypass with some different person, why now to not take the stroller, one pushes the newborn the different pushes the procuring cart. I have a three month previous too and that is what I do. maximum vehicle seats will snap on a procuring cart, i recognize they do in Walmart, and in many cases in case you at the on the spot are not procuring too a lot stuff and also you bypass through your self only positioned the motor vehicle seat contained in the procuring cart, that works too.
